Student Co-Op Work Opportunity in China - Beijing

GBBN Architects is offering seniors or graduate students in an accredited architectural program the opportunity to complete one of their co-op terms in our Beijing, China office.  (Exceptions for junior- level students can be made if the student displays exceptional design talent and maturity.)

GBBN has substantial experience in integrating student employees into project teams.  We have been working with the award-winning University of Cincinnati Cooperative Education program for neary 50 years through their Department of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning (DAAP).  Typically, we average five students in our employ during any academic quarter.  Every student receives a constructive evaluation at the end of every quarter or semester of time so that the professional experience is enhanced.

Student should ideally be able to work in Cincinnati for three months with GBBN Asia Team before working a minimum of three months in China.  However, we are aware that not every candidate's schedule will conveniently fit this time frame.  GBBN Architects will work with qualified students and universities to craft a program that is beneficial to both parties.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ability to advance design work independently;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop and Powerpoint is required;
  • The ability to craft study models in various materials is highly desirable;
  • Knowledge of FormZ and 3D Studio Max is a plus;
  • Knowledge of Mandarin is a plus but is not required;
  • Flexibility regarding client needs - our business is all about service;
  • Appreciation of the cultural opportunities and connections;

Additional Information:

  • While in China, it is expected that students will spend one of the 12 weeks on their own time in independent study or travel.
  • While working in China, students are paid at an hourly rate commensurate with students working in Cincinnati.
  • GBBN Architects will assist the student in finding safe and affordable housing.  If China housing is above and beyond standard rates, GBBN would assist with a portion of the housing costs.
