GBBN Announces Firm Associates Class of 2007


The following individuals were recognized for their dedication and service to GBBN at the firm's annual All-Firm Circle Up held on November 16th. Named as Associates in the Class of 2007 are:

  • David Humlong, AIA
  • Mark Lee, AIA, LEED AP
  • Janet E. Schwartz, AIA, LEEP AP
  • Artie Spaw

Jim Harrell joined the firm in November 2005, and is the firm's Director of Healthcare Planning and Design. A founder of the American College of Healthcare Architects, Jim provides expertise in critical care unit and women's health center design. He is known nationally and beyond for his writing standards for design in the healthcare industry. Jim recently spoke at the Healthcare Design national conference in Dallas.

David Humlong is a project manager on the firm's healthcare team., where is is helping define best practice standards. The UK graduate and Lexington native continues to focus on King's Daughters Medical Center while also working at St. Claire in Morehead (KY), Bluefield Regional (W VA) and Barnes-Jewish-Christian in St. Louis (MO).

Mark Lee is a member of GBBN's higher education design team, and is currently working on the Northern Kentucky University Special Events Arena project. The Ridgewood (NJ) native is a graduate of Temple University and the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Mark is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accredited.

Janet E. Schwartz joined GBBN in 2004, and is currently working on the University of Kentucky Patient Care Facility - Interior Fit-Up project. The Albany (NY) native is involved with the American Institute of Architects, the US Green Building Council and is also LEED accredited.

Artie Spaw is one of the firm's talented designers focusing on the Development Mixed Use Market in both the US and Asia. His Asia-based projects include Park 5, Vanke Research Base and Vanke Changbai. Currently, the UK graduate is working with the domestic team on the Mulberry Vistas project located in Over the Rhine.
