It was a double-honor evening for GBBN at the recently held Tri-State Masonry Awards ceremony. Congratulations go to the entire Cincinnati Public Schools Carson Elementary team for bringing home the First Honor Award.
Below are excerpts from the Jury Comments sheet:
"The jury was unanimous in its determination of this project as the winner of the First Honor Award. Given that this is an elementary school, it is evident that the architect's chose the inherent qualities of masonry to create a unique piece of architecture."
"Read from afar as one approaches the building, it appears as a macro-scaled, multi-colored, 3D sculptural assembly of cubic forms on the landscape. Closer examination by the jury revealed that this is a building that simultaneously celebrates the artistic and esthetic potential of masonry and the exuberance of the young children that are the primary users."
Not to be outdone, the NKU Bank of Kentucky design team also brought home some hardware -- a Finalist Award.
