Recently Highland Heights City officials and dignitaries put shovels to the dirt and broke ground on a 14,000 square-foot facility that will house city offices, public works offices, the office of the Highland Heights Southgate Police Authority and a recreation complex.
GBBN is providing architecture, interior design and construction administration services on the new facility. Taking advantage of the topography of the site, and creating a balanced excavation, the building allows frontage and main entries on two sides for the Civic and Police functions respectively. The design of the building looks towards the future of the City, and uses subtle masonry detailing and strong tower elements to enhance visibility of this prominent site. The balance of the nine-acre site is planned for recreation fields and civic amenities.
The new building will contain state-of-the-art electronics and geo-thermal heating and cooling, resulting in saving money and helping the environment. The expected completion date of the project is Summer 2010.
