Yuko-En Is Centerpiece of Japanese Gardens

While it isn’t GBBN’s biggest project this year, the Yuko-En on the Elkhorn Japanese pavilion located in Georgetown (KY), is certainly one of the more unique ones due to its long and vibrant history.

With approximately 65% of construction complete, the essence of the Japanese influenced architecture is beginning to shine through in both the final materials and scale of the building. The 2,200 square foot structure will be a centerpiece for the Japanese gardens just outside downtown Georgetown and will be a prime location for educational events and social gatherings of all kinds.

Included in the design of the project is a large assembly space and adjacent catering support spaces. The sliding glass door facades on three sides will work to make the pavilion connect to the surrounding gardens and vice versa by blurring the line between landscape and building.  Completion is expected in mid-summer.
