GBBN Louisville Gives Back!

Mayor’s Give A Day
On April 19th the GBBN Louisville Team met the servanthood challenge from the city’s Mayor, Greg Fischer, to “lend a hand and demonstrate that this community is one of the most compassionate places on earth,” as was reported in the April 20th Business First.  The Goal of the program was to have more than 55,000 volunteers sign up for “GIVE BACK” opportunities throughout the week of April 15-22nd.

GBBN staff along with 20 other volunteers from Humana, Olmsted Parks and a local elementary school masterfully orchestrated pitchforks, shovels, spades, brooms, wheel barrows, new native plant species, irrigation systems, and smiles to reclaim a section of the riverwalk access (multi-use path) at Shawnee Park…an 1892 Frederick Law Olmsted designed park.  Together they planted over 50 species of native plants and flowers, created three new plant beds, restored three existing plant beds and spread over 10 cubic yards of mulch.  Fun was had by all and new relationships were formed with the other volunteers.
