Kinney Introduces Vision Leadership Program at AIA National Convention

Marcene Kinney

Marcie Kinney, Principal at GBBN Architects, and Doug Richards will be introducing the AIA Cincinnati's VISION leadership program at this year's AIA National Convention in Denver.

The VISION Program is designed especially for architects licensed less than 10 years who want skills to lead in their firms and communities. The program includes 10 months of ¾-day facilitated seminars, complemented with related keynote lectures held in conjunction with AIA Cincinnati Chapter programming. The keynote lectures elevate the curriculum and chapter programming with internationally recognized speakers. Participants are asked to lead the seminar discussions on a variety of issues with quick, provocative presentations. In addition, participants are exposed to local and national leaders, current issues, a service project, panel discussions moderated by local AIA Fellows and firm CEOs, discussion forums, and mentorship from peers and seasoned professionals.

Candidates apply to participate, and only a select few are accepted to keep the learning focused and intimate. Participants are established in their careers and recognized as leaders with great potential within their practice. Likewise, candidates should be interested in growing their innate leadership capabilities through an enriching holistic curriculum by:

• Facing the challenges of living and practicing to grow business, addressing industry trends, and leaving a lasting legacy.
• Developing and acting on meaningful civic responsibilities.
• Building professional skills—leadership development, business acumen, networking—and strengthening negotiating power.
• Developing a strong network with peers and community leaders on the rise.
