GBBN Welcomes New Louisville Leader

LOUISVILLE – GBBN Architects announces that Chris Bowling, AIA, LEED AP BD+C has joined the firm as an Associate and Project Manager in the Louisville office. With over 18 years of experience, Chris has spent the last decade working within the Louisville community on projects that include cultural venues, historical preservation, schools, housing, and retail/restaurants. On the recent hire of Chris, GBBN CEO Matthew Schottelkotte states, “as demonstrated by his passion to improve the built environment as well as his involvement in the community, Chris is committed to the continual advancement of Louisville and the profession of architecture.”

A strong proponent of giving back to the architect profession, Chris is actively engaged in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) on the national, state, and local levels. He has served as the local AIA Central Kentucky Chapter (CKC) President and is currently the AIA CKC Treasurer. At the state level, he served as the Special Awards Chair and the Regional Convention Chair. He held the AIA Regional Associate Director position, served on the AIA National Associates Committee, and served as the AIA Observer on the NCARB Education Committee. Chris has also spoken at the AIA National and Regional Conventions for over five years and has been published in multiple industry publications.

Chris is active in many local Louisville organizations including serving as a board member for St. Matthews Baseball and Softball Board of Directors, St. Matthews Sun Devil 10u baseball head coach, and Holy Trinity Football program. He is a University of Kentucky Bachelor’s graduate with his Master’s from Syracuse University in Architecture and Urban Design. Chris and his wife Shana reside in Windy Hills, KY with their three children.
