GBBN Wins State and Local Design Awards

The Gateway Station – North Shore Connector was recognized with an Honor Award for Architecture at 2013 AIA Pennsylvania Award Gala. The project is an innovative alternative and is built of transparent materials allowing uninterrupted views from, into and through the site, providing a "gateway" experience for arriving transit passengers.

A proving ground for innovative construction techniques and sustainable development, Vanke Research Base makes a bold statement that design matters in the creation of the built environment, in China and around the world. It was designed to be a showcase for global ambition with signature spaces of the highest quality that foster innovation and social interaction. The project won an AIA Ohio Design Award that wasl presented at the AIA Ohio Valley Region Convention.

Purple Jade was awarded an Honor Award for Built Architectural Work at last week’s Cincinnati AIA Awards Gala. Jurors comments include: "Lovely site. This project wove slender buildings into the landscape without disturbing a shovel of earth. It feels light as a feather."

The Cincinnati Children's Family Pet Center was also recognized at the Cincinnati AIA Awards Gala with an Honorable Mention for Small Architectural projects. Jurors shared “this project brings joy and hope to struggling children”.

GBBN/EDGE was awarded an AIA Pittsburgh Award for the MAYA Design project. The new space encourages the interdisciplinary work ethic along with the logic of MAYA’s service delivery system. The jurors "appreciated that the design stayed true to the diagram which illustrated a clever approach to space planning, an invention to respond to a unique company culture in a standard office building. The family of kivas was carried out with no apparent compromise in function, material or detailing".
