in4mation Awarded MPA Certification Status by OSFC
The in4mation division of GBBN Architects has been pre-qualified by the Ohio School Facilities Commission as a Maintenance Plan Advisor. After review of its qualifications, the OSFC as identified in4mation as a firm with the experience necessary in developing and implementing effective maintenance programs to support the OSFC’s efforts to assist Ohio school districts plan for the long-term preventive maintenance and capital planning of newly completed school facilities.
The Maintenance Plan Advisor program was developed to make certain that the OSFC's investment in school facilities is sustained over time. The MPA program ensures that school districts plan appropriately for the resources and funds necessary to maintain facilities funded by the Commission's programs. The Maintenance Plan Advisor is responsible for the collection and organization of the equipment information about the new facility, development of a maintenance plan and budget, and the delivery and approval of the plan by the State. Additionally, this program enables the district's employees to be trained to successfully ensure the return on investment is maximized, and to properly budget their time and future funds.
in4mation was formed out of the desire to help clients extend the value of the built environment through more effective management of facility knowledge. The team subscribes to a philosophy that knowledgeable facility owners and caretakers, coupled with a structured operations program, can extend the life of a facility and improve building efficiency. It is in4's mission to help organizations more effectively manage their built environment in direct alignment with the MPA Program's mission to ensure the facility investments funded by the OSFC are sustained over time.
Over the last three years, the services provided to Cincinnati Public Schools have positioned the in4mation team for success as an approved Maintenance Plan Advisor. In 2004, in4 helped to establish a computer based CMMS system for use in tracking unplanned and planned maintenance activity. The system was established in preparation of the volume of data expected as a result of a comprehensive district building campaign. in4 helped select and install the software, train the school resources, and create and monitor the metrics to help establish a consistent work order process.
As a result of establishing the CMMS foundation, the in4mation team was awarded a contract to support the district with the Maintenance Plan Advisor services in 2005. The district has adopted the OSFC's recommended asset classification system, and recommended Preventive Maintenance program as a baseline for care for existing schools, as well as each newly opened facility. The in4mation team has successfully worked with the district to approve four plans to date. In addition, support currently continues for nine additional schools.
