CCHMC - Magnetoencephalograph (MEG) Suite
client: Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
markets : Healthcare
services : Construction, Design

The Magnetoencephalograph (MEG) Suite at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is the first clinical pediatric neuro-imaging device of its kind in the United States. The MEG unit is a shielded room, which contains equipment that allows the neurologist to detect the location of electrical impulses in the brain. The readings rendered by the MEG allow for the exact location of the brain activity, without the distortion caused by the skull in a typical EEG. The MEG's ability to detect the location of very faint electrical signals in the brain, along with the 3-D image from an MRI, help a surgeon to remove only the defective brain cells without damaging the healthy cells.
