GBBN's design consolidated all clincial laboratories and the pathology department. The final project location was based on critical adjacencies - one floor away from surgery to enhance pathology services and adjacent to the Neonatology Intensive Care Unit for rapid response for high demand tests. A combination of pneumatic and electronic track vehicle transports facilitate access to the laboratory areas from the balance of the facility. The electron microscopes are structurally isolated to minimize the vibration.
