Located in a 1950's bottle distributing factory, the Fenton Rigging Company was faced with numerous functional issues associated with the space along with issues that accompany any aging facility. Faced with tremendous growth, the company performed several in-house additions and renovations to ease the growing pains since its acquisition in 1975. Unfortunately, the repairs were only a short-term fix and the company decided they needed to hire an expert to provide a long-term solution.

GBBN Architects completely renovated the two-story facility, providing a design solution that reflected the company's culture and supported the business plan. As an industrial company, Fenton Rigging required space that was durable for its employees, as well as the various tradesmen that visited the facility. The "Rough Ready" design incorporated many of the construction materials used by the company including sheet metal and particle board. The materials reflected the company's business and provided a significant cost advantage. Public and private zones were created, along with more functional workstations to improve productivity. To boost morale and minimize cost, the design process included Fenton Rigging employees. Under the design guidance of GBBN, in-house employees performed many of the interior and exterior repairs. The final result was a cost-effective, functional and flexible workplace that the employees embraced.
