GBBN worked with the Mercy Anderson Team to design an expanded Emergency Department that enabled staff to provide quick and efficient care to patient’s needs, while keeping the patients comfortable and ensuring their privacy. The newly expanded ED will accommodate nearly 60,000 patients per year, a 26% increase in patient capacity. The Emergency Department is the new “Front Door” to the Hospital. Changes to the facility include an expanded, more comfortable family waiting area, enlarged and redesigned patient treatment rooms optimized for medical efficiency and patient comfort, and an expanded central nursing station - 3 times larger than before to enhance the staff’s ability to carry out critical tasks and improve communication between caregivers, physicians and family members.
