Northern Kentucky University is busting at the seams. Planned as a school for 12,000 students, campus planners are now visioning a new NKU campus for 20-22,000 students. To do so, NKU has acquired property adjacent to NKU's Highland Heights Campus to create a 100-acre Sports Complex thereby freeing up space to expand the campus' academic core. GBBN and NKU are working together to develop a Master Plan that will provide space for soccer, track, baseball, and tennis facilities and support both collegiate and intermural sports activities. Issues of parking, utilities, pedestrian connection to campus, regional roadway improvements, and the ever present steep topography of Northern Kentucky, will all effect the Master Plan development.
