Northern Kentucky University's Student Life Master Plan tells a clear story. The commuter school's explosive growth combined with limited on-campus housing has left students looking for more opportunities to be connected to campus full time. Secondarily, students were moving on to other institutions where they could find these opportunities. The new Residence Hall project provides that connection for 400 students and fills a niche between traditional dorm rooms and full apartments with Suite configurations for four students in private and semi-private sleeping rooms. Set along a narrow ridge, the project extends the original campus architecture to a more residential vocabulary.
