This project lends the opportunity to update the interior finishes to the current standards for maternity services within hospitals, which take on the quality of hotel or hospitality designs. This first project is an exciting step for Bluefield Regional Medical Center and their vision for the care of the people of the southern West Virginia region.
The improvements will allow for patient privacy and comfort for new mothers, enhancing the rooms for overnight family stays. The design will combine the nursing staff between the post-partum and labor/delivery areas to allow for minimal walking distances and greater privacy to the labor/delivery areas. Currently averaging 800 births per year, the facility will support BRMC's anticipated growth over the next several years.
Currently GBBN is renovating approximately 11,980 square feet for a new obstetrics department. The new plan includes spaces for nine semi-private, post-partum patient rooms, one semi-private, ante-partum room, five labor/delivery/recover/post-partum (LDRP) rooms, one delivery/C-section surgery room, and a new well-baby nursery.
Bluefield Regional Medical Center (BRMC in Bluefield, WV), is considered the leader in quality healthcare for southern West Virginia and southwestern Virginia. The staff of more the 120 physicians represent nearly every medical specialty, from pediatrics and emergency medicine to neurology and plastic surgery. Modern facilities and advanced technology make the medical center the region's source for state-of-the-art care.

As we entered our strategic planning phase on our new project, it became quite apparent we needed much more than an architectural firm. We needed expertise from concept to construction. GBBN bridged that gap with their team approach. They also cut my expenses in half from my former architect
and delivered twice the product.
