An existing dining and residence hall, the 1920's Bell Tower Place was in need of renovation. GBBN worked with the University to develop a concept that would be welcoming to the students and nearby administration, as well as the public at large.

Design Solution
Representing a new approach in campus food preparation, the design is based on a European Marché (market) concept where meals are prepared to order at any one of nine themed food stations. GBBN toured similar facilities with the client to gather ideas for the new dining space. Special attention was given to providing a variety of ethnic food types, small and large dining areas and the introduction of natural light.

The new space includes four themed interior dining areas, a formal dining area for private functions, and an outdoor café serviced by a "Tower-to-go" window. GBBN suggested developing the outdoor courtyard/café (previously the loading dock), to further encourage socialization and accommodate dining overflow.

Better Business
GBBN recognizes that dining service is a significant part of any University's business. We worked with the University to develop a space that worked well on the campus, and one in which students wanted to spend time. The university has experienced an increase in student traffic, but has also seen a rise in administration and public use. We also helped the University develop private dining areas to be used for receptions and private parties. The result has been nothing but successful.
