Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) has dedicated itself to improving not only the level of education the students receive, but also the environment in which they learn.

Rockdale Academy is a Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade project designed for 650 students. The three-story building is the first urban school structure built in the state of Ohio under the Ohio School Facilities Commission Design Manual. The existing urban site was utilized for optimum playgrounds, parking and athletic fields. The new building has seven groupings of four classrooms, each surrounding an extended learning space for multiple educational programs. A state- of-the -art technology system is supported from a dynamic media center, all with community availability in mind. The new gymnasium and dining room can be centered with a two-sided stage for performances, lectures and community events.

Unique for Rockdale Academy is the inclusion of a fully staffed regional health clinic run by Children's Hospital of Cincinnati, also designed by GBBN Architects. The new 86,160 square foot structure, designed by GBBN / WA Architects, is located on the existing six-acre school property in Avondale.
