St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice is a free standing hospice facility. It will be designed to focus on the patient and the family for total support of their experience. It contains 12 beds with four additional rooms to be shelled out, as well as expansion plans for a total capacity of 48 beds. Phase I 22,500 sf contains administration, nursing home care, family counselors, and a chapel with chaplains on staff. The $5.5 million in construction will dedicate considerable funds to sitework, with healing gardens to make this end of life experience part of nature by bringing the outdoor natural environment into the patient’s bedside.
