Strong Health Emergency Department Expansion
client: University of Rochester
markets : Healthcare
services : Construction

This 105,000-square-foot addition to the existing hospital will replace a currently undersized, outmoded Emergency Department. The new design consists of emergency facilities on the ground floor for Adult Acute Care, Pediatrics, Trauma/Critical Care, Urgent Care (Family Express), and Observation (CDU). A ground floor imaging center will be included within the department for CT and standard radiographic images for rapid diagnostics. Additional ground floor space includes Triage, waiting and support spaces. The second floor will house Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), and administration (office) space, while the basement will house mechanical and shell space for future O.R.'s and Cardiac Cath. Labs. The addition will also include an elevator tower connecting the addition to the existing eight floor hospital, as well as future floors above the new second floor, and a rooftop helipad.
