Overview
GBBN worked with Thomas More to renovate the existing library to bring it to life and to more efficiently utilize the space. The new configuration includes more interactive spaces where students can study in groups on each of the three floors, more computer stations, an adaptive services room for disabled students, better wiring for use of laptop computers, and four additional classrooms for use by both traditional and nontraditional students.
New Face of Libraries
Working with the user groups, we determined that students and faculty were looking for something new. Gone was the concept of the old collegiate library. Users were demanding a more interactive space in which they could study, do research, have access to computers, and work in groups. With a new layout, new finishes, and vibrant colors, GBBN created more active and inviting spaces that encouraged students to use the library every day.
Added Classrooms and Technology Space
4 new classrooms were added to the existing library space. The classrooms are equipped with the latest technology as well as ample windows to maximize light. The classrooms are located within the library, requiring students to pass through the space and further encouraging its use. The technology lab provides much needed computer access for all students on campus.
