As the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games draw near, construction is going at a feverish pace throughout the entire city. GBBN has joined the development frenzy, teaming with Vanke Enterprises to design Tian Xiu Gardens. Tian Xiu Gardens is a 26-building, mixed-use complex which includes: housing, commercial and entertainment/meeting facilities. The total project is just over 1.2 million square feet, the majority of which are 1,000 condominiums. Vanke was looking for a partner who could bring western influence to their development. Through creative use of materials and color, integration of "outdoor rooms", and advanced knowledge of construction procedures, GBBN provided a design that successfully melded the two cultures together.
