University of Kentucky Patient Care Facility
client: University of Kentucky
markets : Healthcare
services : Planning, Construction, Design
To rebuild their hospital, originally constructed in the 1960's, the University of Kentucky chose GBBN to collaborate with A.M. Kinney and Ellerbe Beckett. The new University of Kentucky Healthcare Enterprise Patient Care Facility, is a culmination of smaller projects, of working with the University and building a relationship composed of commitment and trust.
A four-part project, the replacement hospital will include a new hospital building with diagnostic, treatment, and emergency care on the lower floors, and nursing and further patient care on higher levels. The entire project, with parking garage, infrastructure, and concourse, is slated to open its doors to patients in 2010. The facility serves the area between Frankfort, KY and the eastern state line, as it is the only level 1 trauma center in the region.
