Positioned at the intersection of Liberty Avenue, Sixth Street and Market Street, PNC Legacy Project is poised to become a landmark in Pittsburgh’s downtown Cultural District. By utilizing a limited number of materials it was possible to accomplish the highly detailed lantern box desired by PNC. At the street level, translucent storefront is used to create a direct connection to the interior of the gallery space. During the evening LED light fixtures graze the channel glass turning the building into a ‘glowing beacon’ that can be seen throughout the city.

The Legacy Project highlights PNC’s devotion to funding community and non-profit groups throughout their history in Pittsburgh. The gallery space is defined by orange, blue and white light wands which mark the location of oral histories spoken by prominent leaders in the community. The mezzanine overlooking the gallery is to be used as a conference space and the basement as support for the gallery. The second floor will be used by PNC as office space. The PNC Legacy Project was designed to achieve LEED™ SILVER Certification with its submission review in process.
