Centrally located within Hamilton County, the new Sharonville facility gives the growing SPCA much needed space and flexibility. Accommodating approximately 350 animals, the facility became the SPCA's primary adoption and administrative center. It features daylit kennels, wood ceilings and a stone fireplace to create a home-like environment that promotes a comfortable and positive adoption experience.
The design establishes the character of a welcoming lodge environment with an agrarian feel. The addition used the Adoption Center entry and lobby to set the identity of the building. Kennel spaces, with highly sophisticated mechanical and plumbing needs, were designed to best take care of the animals and be inviting to volunteers. The existing structure is utilized for flexible space including the former Sanctuary as a Humane Education space, classroom spaces as offices, and Retail and Art Gallery spaces to drive additional traffic to the facility.
