The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is the beneficiary of the relocation of the state fair. The University envisions transforming the 250-acre former fairgrounds into the Nebraska Innovation Campus – a one-of-a-kind interdisciplinary technology commercialization park. GBBN and a team of consultants are responsible for translating the unique strengths of the University into an economic development strategy to attract world-class companies and private investment into partnership with the University's research centers.
The team was commissioned to develop a long-range master plan for 250 acres into a fully sustainable live, work, learn, and play environment to attract talented research professionals from around the world. The property is expected to generate as much as 2.5M square feet of academic, research, office, and mixed-use development, generating thousands of new jobs and more than $500M in new construction.
