Carnegie Mellon University / 4721 Fifth Avenue, Marketing and Communications Building

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Scope: Full Architectural Services

Size: 22,000 SF/Renovation

The 4721 Fifth Avenue renovation establishes a new collaborative hub for all of the Marketing and Communications staff of Carnegie Mellon University. The project creates a new universally accessible entrance and provides a complete rehabilitation of the existing building facade.

The renovation of the existing space incorporates an existing skylight and historic stair as a circulation feature to open office and meeting spaces throughout the building. Open floor plans and glass partitions allow for high visibility encouraging impromptu sessions in one of the varied meeting spaces. Technology, white-boards, and movable partitions allow spaces to transform with flexibility for meeting, video-editing, and video conferencing. The project opened in July 2017 and is expected to achieve LEED Gold.
