• Patient satisfaction scores as measured by Press Gainey surveys, have improved markedly in recent years in relation to our physical plant. I believe that our patient-friendly new buildings designed by GBBN have contributed greatly to this.

Since 1993, GBBN has led the design of over half a billion dollars of construction on projects including an expanded research center incorporating a new translational research facility, a new education center, a clinical building to replace the original hospital, an expanded and renovated surgery center, additions to the visitor's parking garage and a chapel, just to list a few. Collaboration was critical to the success of all of these projects.

As the lead architect, GBBN collaborated with the client, as well as a complex team of consultants to create a more harmonious campus, designing new buildings that complemented existing ones and renovating aging facilities to accommodate growth. The design also placed the families’ needs as a top priority. Memorable spaces, views to the exterior, environmental graphics and artwork, thoughtful way finding, and carefully landscaped areas were all used to welcome families and ease the stress of the hospital visit.
