China Welcomes Trade Mission & Provides Opportunities For Growth

When the partners at GBBN Architects first contemplated going after work in China, they never imagined the number of opportunities possible or the size of the projects they'd one day be working on. Recently two of the firm's prinicipals, Kim Patton and Jervy Zhu, were among those selected to attend the first-ever trade mission to China sponsored by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The contingent from the Queen City included representatives from the University of Cincinnati, Great Traditions Land & Development, Cincinnati Sub Zero, just to name a few. "We were definitely honored to be a part of the trade mission," said Patton. "Our work in China has allowed us to build solid relationships with a number of companies that we hope to work with for years to come."

If fact, GBBN's relationship with Beijing residential developer Vanke Holdings has been very successful, and continues to grow. Members of the trade mission were treated to a presentation by Zhu of a current GBBN-Vanke collaboration, Western Mountian Garden, a residential complex in northern Beijing. Two other Vanke projects are in progress: Beijing Xiaotun Condominiums (1,200,000 square foot development) and Shenyang Vanke Cheng Riverfront high-rise building (three, riverfront, 34-story residential buildings).

In addition, GBBN Asia is currently working on the following projects with other developers:

  • Tianjin Chateau Magaux Single Family Villa -- a 400-unit development
  • Beijing Elite Longwan Single Family Villa -- a 200-unit housing development
