Cincinnati Builds the World Exhibit

Today, in a culture of immeasurable diversity on all levels, it's inspiring to have design be a common thread bringing people and resources together.

Through Cincinnati Builds the World, a showcase of international design presented by the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati. ten design firms in the Queen City and the University of Cincinnati have displayed their projects from around the world. The various projects are exhibited from over a dozen countries, revealing the global territory of contemporary design and the local talent which is making its unique mark on an international scale.

GBBN was integrally involved in the exhibit. Matthew Schottelkotte, the firm's CEO worked with AFC Director to create the event and to organize the local participants, while Bradley Cooper served as the Curator. One of the goals for the exhibit was to increase awareness about the exceptional design talent residing in Cincinnati and to highlight the work they are doing around the world.

"When people think about local companies working internationally, they naturally think of companies like P&G and GE. This exhibit gave the design community the opportunity to show what we have been designing around the world. As a result of this international work, firms in Cincinnati have become destinations for young professionals looking for global careers. These are the people leading the urban housing renaissance in OTR and on the Banks and will be future leaders in our community" says Schottelkotte.

"The international work designed and executed in Cincinnati reflect the connected world in which we live, and the local talent that lives in Cincinnati," said Cooper. He added, "The international community asks for good design, and Cincinnati is answering the call."

Cooper and Schottelkotte were recently interviewed by Dan Hurley of Cincinnati's Channel 12. To view the interview, click here.

The exhibit will be open until August 16th. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 12PM until 3PM daily and by appointment.

One of the most important issues facing healthcare administrators in the U.S. is providing services to people with limited English proficiency (LEP) and limited reading proficiency. Since 2003, the Society of Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD) and Hablamos Juntos have been working together to develop design and educational tools to support wayfinding systems in healthcare environments.
