Erie Art Museum Receives LEED Gold

The green element that architect Anne Chen is most proud of at the Erie Art Museum is the new gallery's rotating walls. Anne also mentioned the partitions can be reconfigured to avoid wasting materials to put up new walls when an exhibit changes.

Such environmentally friendly measures helped the museum earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification. LEED is a green-building certification program of the U.S. Green Building Council. The art museum achieved LEED's gold certification, the second highest.

Officials on Sunday unveiled a LEED gold plaque just inside the museum entrance at 20 E. Fifth St. during an "Art of Being Green" celebration.

"It's a great day," museum Director John Vanco said.
