Posted @withregram • @tctcincinnati Originally built for the Ohio Mechanics Institute, the Emery has always been a place for innovation. Its design not only used new steel trusses to create a column-free “house” with unobstructed views, but it built upon the most current approach to acoustics to create a space whose sound ranked among the best in the country.
Incorporating Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality into the planning process is one of the ways that the Emery Theater Renovation builds on this legacy of innovation. Early in the design process, GBBN Architects and TCT used both technologies to test the size, ergonomics, and experiential quality of the concessions, the reception desk, lobby, and the inside of the theater itself.
Standing in the historic theater’s magnificent space, these technologies allow us a glimpse of its future.
Big shoutout to the incredible team making it happen – GBBN Architects, Terrex Development & Construction, CFBank, Cincinnati Development Fund, LISC Greater Cincinnati, and National Trust Community Investment Corporation! Also funded by the City of Cincinnati.
