AIA Ohio Merit Award for Cincinnati Union Terminal

At the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Ohio Valley Region’s 2019 Conference, Cincinnati’s Union Terminal received a Merit Award from AIA Ohio. The award recognizes our work infusing this beloved community icon with new life for future generation.

Not only has Cincinnati Union Terminal been restored back to its original 1933 condition— including extensive work on its famous fountain—the museum-going experience has been re-imagined, making it easier for visitors to choose how to move through the space and engage with exhibits. We worked with preservation architect John G. Waite Associates to carefully preserve Cincinnati Union Terminal’s past, and meticulously repair exterior and interior structural damage. The renovation also includes all new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, and data systems. And it all happened while keeping the building open (read about the temporary entrance we created to enable this here).
