More Rooms, More Love: Ronald McDonald House Tops Out

The expansion at Ronald McDonald House (RMH) of Greater Cincinnati has topped out.

Installation of the final beam is a significant moment in any project. It’s the last structural piece needed to get the roof of the building completed, which will allow interior work to start without being hampered by weather. The expansion of Ronald McDonald House means “more rooms and more love” for young patients and their families as they undergo treatment at Cincinnati Children’s across the street.

“We’re thrilled to have reached this point in construction because it means we are so much closer to being able to help more families,” says Jennifer Goodin, RMH Cincinnati’s Executive Director.

When complete, RMH Cincinnati will have 177 rooms, making it the largest Ronald McDonald House in the country. The expansion will also better support the needs of families, many of whom stay for 100 nights or more.

The project will provide private space to retreat, game and craft rooms, kitchen and dining areas to accommodate both communal and single-family meals, as well as a rooftop deck. These spaces connect to each other, but in a way that empowers people to choose how and where they engage with volunteers, staff, and other families.
