Breaking Ground: Ronald McDonald House Expansion Means More Rooms, More Love

“Having to tell a family that we don’t have room for them is heartbreaking,” says Jennifer Goodin, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House of Greater Cincinnati. Last year, the house had to turn away more than 1,600 families in need.

We’re helping them change that.

Yesterday, Ronald McDonald House broke ground on the expansion for their house in Cincinnati’s Avondale neighborhood. The addition will expand their capacity from 78 to 177 rooms, and will include new kitchens, a craft room, amenity spaces, and a rooftop gathering space for families to get some fresh air after a long day inside the hospital.

When complete, Cincinnati’s Ronald McDonald House will be the largest in the world and a home away from home for families while their children receive life-saving medical treatment at area hospitals, including Cincinnati Children’s.
