Healthcare Design magazine has named GBBN Principal Angela Mazzi their HCD 10 award winner in the architect category.

The selection committee cited Angela’s outstanding contributions to healthcare over the last year, including her work on milieu spaces at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center’s new pediatric behavioral health facility, her role in convening GBBN’s Oncology Symposium, her ongoing service to the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA), her published articles, speaking engagements, and her continued research on salutogenesis (or how buildings can foster health).

“We couldn’t be more excited for Angela to receive this recognition from Healthcare Design,” says GBBN Director of Healthcare, Michael Lied. “Angela not only lifts up her clients and our team, but she shares her time and expertise with her colleagues and with multiple organizations and initiatives. Her approach to evidence-based design surfaces new insights that transform outcomes for providers, health systems, and patients. I can’t think of a more deserving recipient than Angela.”

The annual HCD 10 recognizes standout industry professionals. During her tenure last year as President of ACHA’s Board of Regents, Angela convened and led a task force to study the future of healthcare. Angela presented the report at the American College of Healthcare Executives 2022 Congress. Her most recent speaking engagements include “Exposome vs. Genome: Understanding the Built Environment’s Effects on Healthcare Outcomes” (NEOCON 2022) and “Buildings as Medicine: How Better Design Removes Environmental Stressors” (Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit 2022).

Congratulations Angela!
