GBBN’s newest NCIDQ certified interior designer is Sam Bischof!
The National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) examination is the interior design industry’s recognized indicator of proficiency in interior design principles and a designer’s commitment to the profession. NCIDQ Certificate holders have proven their expertise in understanding and applying current codes established to protect public health, safety, and welfare. Each of the three exam sections is taken separately. The three sections cover seven core competency areas of interior design: building systems, codes, construction standards, contract administrations, design application, professional practice, and project coordination.
“I used as many different types of study materials as possible including CIDQ partner websites, flashcards, videos, study guides created by other and designers, and my own handwritten notes,” says Sam. “Approaching the content from multiple perspectives reinforced the material and was key to helping me feel confident and prepared on exam day.”
Given the long and arduous process of becoming a licensed interior designer, what made Sam want to pursue certification?
“The process has made me a more confident designer, allowing me to jump into projects with a stronger technical foundation,” she says. “With a strong understanding of codes regulations, and industry standards, I’m able to navigate the fundamentals more efficiently, and dedicate more time to elevating the design experience and creating thoughtful, impactful solutions for clients.”
