GBBN Associate, Stephen Mrdjenovich was recently chosen to help teach a training series on Passive House design and construction.

Hosted by the Building Energy Exchange (BE-Ex), an organization dedicated to reducing the effects of climate change through improvements to the built environment, the 2022 Passive House Training series provides a sequence of courses covering everything from the basics of Passive House design and construction to deep dives on continuous insulation and thermal bridging, energy recovery, and high performance windows.

“It’s wonderful to have this level of expertise inhouse,” GBBN Director of Sustainability & Resilience, Tiffany Broyles Yost notes. “We’re especially excited that Stephen will be available to share his expertise with developers, clients, consultants, and others interested in the BE-Ex Passive House courses.”

Stephen is ready to take on this new role. “Passive House design is one of the best ways we, as architects, can help in the fight against climate change,” he says. “Buildings that meet the Passive House standard use 65-85% less energy than conventional buildings, so I’m very excited to be part of sharing this knowledge.”

A Certified Passive House Consultant since 2019, Stephen’s expertise has shaped the design of Fifth & Dinwiddie East and West while also benefiting and inspiring his colleagues at GBBN.
