Cornerstone Award for Novak Center

The Novak Center for Children’s Health at the University of Louisville Physicians’ (UoL) has won a Cornerstone Award from the Louisville Downtown Partnership (LDP). The award recognizes significant downtown development projects.

The Novak Center for Children’s Health eases the burden on patients and families by bringing together multiple pediatric specialties (formerly spread across the UofL campus), into one distinctive medical center. From the parking garage, the building can be accessed by a unique pedestrian bridge inspired by UofL’s engineering program and a childlike sense of wonder and discovery.

The project’s high-performance exterior terracotta tiles take their color cues from Kentucky’s natural environment—cardinal red, rolling pasture green, and sky blue. They are part of a building envelope system that creates a comfortable environment for people inside and makes the building more energy efficient and easier to maintain.
