In the news: Apple Street Market

Next City recently featured the story of Apple Street Market, a new grocery store coming to Cincinnati’s Northside neighborhood. Apple Street Market will be employee and community owned, provide access to fresh food, bring sustaining jobs, and offer education in the form of a teaching kitchen and recipe sharing.  It’s one example of the kind of grass roots markets popping up across the country as communities look beyond the big box grocery model.

Both as designers and residents of Northside, GBBN’s Renee Martin and Mary Jo Minerich have been actively involved in bringing the market to life. “It’s been interesting to work on every part of this project, and to think about marketing and messaging in addition to design,” says Renee.

The project will be ready for construction bids later this year. A capital campaign to raise operating funds for the market kicks off September 22, 2018 at  , a craft brewery and taproom, in Northside.
