Renovated Federal House Dedicated at Penn State Behrend

University administrators, faculty, and members of the community recently gathered at Penn State Behrend to celebrate the opening of the renovated and expanded Federal House.

The historic building, which is believed to be the oldest brick structure in the area, will now become the home to the Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Community Outreach, Research, and Evaluation (CORE), a program that focuses on fostering positive youth development in Erie County, Pennsylvania.

GBBN Principal, Matt Plecity, who led the design team was on hand to celebrate.

“The ribbon cutting was a celebration of CORE and their new home where they can engage and educate the youth of Erie,” Matt said. “The new building delicately adds to the historic structure with a modern but respectful form wrapped around old growth trees.”

CORE will welcome students, educators, and partners into the renovated Federal House soon.
