GBBN is pleased to announce that Mel Ngami has been selected to participate in the 2021-2022 class of AIA Pittsburgh’s Leadership Institute for Emerging Professionals.

A nine-month program, the Leadership Institute helps develop “the leadership capacity of architects who are dedicated to positive change on an individual, firm, and community level.” It does so through a series of workshops dedicated to cultivating leadership skills and the exploration of issues within the profession.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to reflect on the idea of leadership,” Mel says. “The question for me is how, as a leader, can I bring positivity and enrichment to the teams I work with.”

A thoughtful and respected member of GBBN’s Pittsburgh office, Mel is an active member of the National Organization of Minority Architects’ (NOMA) Pittsburgh chapter and has co-directed NOMA Pittsburgh’s Project Pipeline Summer Camp. She also teaches an Architecture Foundations Studio at University of Pittsburgh.

Mel has worked on a wide variety of projects at GBBN, including Carnegie Mellon University’s Sorrells LibraryPittsburgh’s Contemporary Craft, Penn State Behrend’s Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Community Outreach, Research, & Evaluation, and 5th & Dinwiddie West.
