Willkommen Home: Affordable Housing Coming to Cincinnati

对不起,此内容只适用于美式英文

The City of Cincinnati recently took an important step toward creating the largest addition of affordable housing to its urban core in decades. City Council approved a set of measures to support Willkommen, a mixed-use and mixed-income development that will renovate 11 historic buildings and create three new infill buildings as it adds 72 affordable units to Cincinnati’s historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.

The three new, infill buildings were designed by GBBN.

“Adding quality, mixed-income affordable housing to Over-the-Rhine is critical to the neighborhood’s future,” says GBBN Principal, Chad Burke. “While our design treats residents equitably, giving them dignity in their choices, our approach to the new buildings creates a distinctly contemporary architectural language that meets the neighborhood’s historic guidelines and enhances its historic fabric.”

The city’s action, which involved approving the sale of four city-owned properties and making a variety of funds available to the project, opens the door for the construction of Willkommen to begin by the end of the month.
