ICON’t Believe it! Milestone Moment for the Andrew J Brady ICON Music Center

The placement of a building’s final I beam is always a milestone. This week, the uppermost piece of structural steel was installed and now construction on the roof can begin as well as the buildout of the interiors.

“A project like this takes perseverance and patience,” said Jonathan Martin, CEO of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, who’s subsidiary, Music Entertainment Management Incorporated (MEMI) will book the performers and events for the venue once it’s finally complete later this year.

GBBN Associate Principal Zachary Zettler is the project manager for the ICON and watched the beam get placed with a mixture of relief and excitement. “It’s fantastic to have reached a major milestone and I’m excited for what is ahead,” said Zachary. “That last piece of steel means that project has taken its full shape and people will start to see what really makes it special. The glass curtainwall, integral lighting, and perforated, color shifting metal panels will go up in the coming weeks. We’ve turned a corner and will now start to see a structure become architecture,” he said.

Congratulations to Messer Construction, MEMI, and the entire project team on being one step closer to opening Cincinnati, Ohio’s newest headliner.
