Blueprint for Better

At the Greater Pittsburgh Nonprofit Partnership biennial Summit, American Institute of Architects (AIA) Blueprint for Better Champion, Amanda Markovic and her fellow AIA colleagues shared insights about how design and architecture can help build a region that works for everyone

“Depending on the materials, the lifespan of building can be 40-120 years. There is a renewed urgency to be thoughtful and informed about how new developments impact our cities,” says Amanda. As an AIA Blueprint for Better Champion, Amanda engages communities, neighbors, and stakeholders in conversations about the built environments they experience every day.

“As architects and designers, our mission is to inform and empower,” says Amanda. “We want people to feel part of the design and planning process in their communities–that development happens with them, not to them.”
