Sustainability for GBBN means amplifying the social, economic, and environmental opportunities inherent in each project to maximize the value of our built and natural environments.
Designing for Life is central to our intention of setting a high bar for environmental achievement on each project and for our staff. More than 50% of our employees are accredited professionals. The most significant example of our leadership in sustainable design is in our role as Owner's Authorized Representative for Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS). GBBN is responsible for writing and implementing a system-wide Sustainable Design Initiative improving operational performance at the CPS Administrative Center and on 51 school campuses - the first such application in North America.
Our projects are designed to meet our own minimum sustainable design standards – LEED Silver equivalent. We routinely use the LEED Checklists for benchmarking project potential and use the system to communicate the value to our clients. Our experience ranges from the intimate scale to large-scale institutional projects; many are the first of their kind for their owners.
GBBN walks the walk. Our Louisville office received the LEED GOLD certification, the first architectural firm in Kentucky to achieve such an honor. Our office environments have become our opportunity to research the latest materials, policies, and technologies meant to improve our triple bottom-line: economic, environmental, and ethical advancement.
